Recruitment - Application Developer Revised

1st Jul 2020

For the role that we are currently recruiting we have opened up the requirements to include applicants with less experience or graduates who have undertaken programming modules / work during placements or internships. We have decided to do this as we have the flexibility to be able to support the right candidate to grow into the full role.

Application Developer - Revised Requirements (Start August / September 2020)

As part of a planned expansion to assist us with the wide range of consultancy projects that we are engaged on, we are seeking an Application Developer to write and maintain an in-house application to facilitate complex calculations complying with industry regulations and standards for pressurised equipment.  We anticipate that the role will expand to include further internal application development to meet design engineering requirements.

Applicants are likely to have a good degree in computing, mathematics or similar and have some experience in computer programming or software development.  Applicants would ideally be competent in one or more of the following: secure Web design, C, C++ and OpenGL.  An engineering background would be useful but is not essential.

The role would particularly suit those who currently work in a team or larger organisation and are looking for an opportunity to take on responsibility for the entire life cycle of the software development process.  However we would also be interested in applicants with less experience or graduates who have undertaken programming modules/work during placements or internships – as we have the flexibility to be able to support the right candidate to grow into the full role.

We are looking for a candidate who can mature into a developer who will be responsible for the design, architecture and maintenance of the application, combining the skills of a programmer, analyst, architect, and tester. They will also be responsible for technical documentation and liaising with relevant stakeholders. Good communication, self-motivation and a conscientious attitude will all be necessary to succeed in the position.

The successful applicant will receive an attractive remuneration package including company pension, health and life insurance benefits. The role will be based at our office in Hertford, Hertfordshire.
